Elaina's drinking in the shower

That is the kind of night it has been... and it is only ten o'clock.

Our lovely evening began with Elaina catching our kitchen on fire, and by that I may be exaggerating just a bit. I am surprised the upstairs neighbors didn't call 911 the way we were yelling. Elaina was screaming "Fire, fireeeeee, FIRE!" and I was yelling back, "WE DON'T EVEN HAVE A FIRE EXTINGUISHER!" After those scary thirty seconds the fire was out and we began to reflect on the experience we realized that we live about fifty yards from the fire department and next time we can just yell out the window if we need some help.

After dinner we decided it was time for a run, so we laced up our shoes and headed out the door with Elaina asking me multiple times if I had the key to which I answered multiple times, "Yes". During our run we got to discuss some lovely things for example how when we have our new roommate move in soon I will have to close the door when I'm changing and not walk around in a towel. To this she just replied that I already should be doing those things. When we got back to the house I started to unlock the door and quickly realized I had grabbed the wrong key and not only was it the wrong key, but it was much smaller than the key to our house and I should have recognized this before we even left. Glancing back at her I told her guiltily, like a child confessing to his mother that he ate the all the cookies, that I had locked us out. And so our second excursion began.

First, we decided we should walk around the house to check and see if  any of the windows were unlocked. After walking around the house once, we defeatedly decided to go upstairs to the neighbor's and ask if we could call the landlord on one of their phones. On our way up the stairs we realized that asking the neighbors for help meant we could finally see the inside of their house like we had been wanting to. Once we got to their door we knocked, and knocked, and then knocked again and realized that even though their car was in the driveway, they were not there. We decided we needed to move into the next plan of action.

Walking over to our friend's house, our plan was to borrow his phone and get a hold of the landlord that way. Standing at his door felt like a repeat of what we had just done at the neighbor's house. Once more, we knocked and knocked, but no one answered. Elaina geniusly suggested that even though no one was answering that I should try the door and so I did, and it was unlocked. We let ourselves inside and it appeared that no one was there, regardless, we yelled that we were in fact in the house and that if anyone was home they needed to come out of hiding, immediately. Finally, Adam appeared.

We used his phone to try to get ahold of the landlord, but there was no answer, after leaving a message for him we decided to try once again to break into the house. Heading over, the plan was to use a credit card to try to open the door. That plan didn't work, instead we started ripping the screen to the only window in the house that we used and happened to be open. The screen was finally ripped out and Adam courageously dove inside to unlock the door. When he was inside we got word that the landlord was on the way. Together we agreed to tell him that we had opened the door with a credit card. Not suspicious at all.

And now Elaina is in the shower, drinking, pop.
